Willis Winters Park Update- October 22, 2020
On Thursday, October 15, 2020, the Dallas Park and Recreation board held a virtual meeting. Tony Benedetto, Woodrow Wilson High School athletic coordinator and head football coach spoke on behalf of Woodrow stating that a football stadium was not needed.
The residents of Juliette Fowler Communities are relieved with this announcement. Through their ongoing conversations and informal resident poll, 90% of those who responded stated they had various concerns.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this neighborhood conversation and to have our voices heard. We look forward to becoming more involved in the ongoing beautification of Willis Winters Park.
Katie Lightfoot, Fowler Christian Apartments Resident Council President
On September 22, 2020, Juliette Fowler Communities’ President and CEO Nicole Gann, hosted a Virtual, fact-seeking Information Meeting to learn about the efforts of members throughout our East Dallas neighborhood regarding Willis Winters Park [formerly Randall Park] and in consideration of building a sports venue at Woodrow Wilson High School.
As a founding member of our East Dallas community and one of the largest neighborhood associations, Fowler has a vested interest in this outcome.
Speakers included city officials, park board officials, DISD and Woodrow Wilson officials and neighborhood representatives.
Though recorded, the audio of the recording is faulty. Zoom technicians are still working on resolving the issue. Meanwhile, below are the presentations that were presented:
