At Fowler, we believe no one should walk this journey alone. Residents, team members, families, friends, and community partners are invited to come together as we recognize those impacted by cancer and learn more about the importance of awareness and education.
The walk will begin at The Peak, 230 S. Fulton Street, Dallas, and travel through the Fowler campus before concluding at Pearl Nordan Care Center.
Participants will have the option of a short or long walking route. Along the way, Fowler residents and team members will cheer on participants with signs, pom poms, and messages of encouragement and support.
Following the walk, participants will gather in Schneider Chapel at Pearl Nordan Care Center for an educational presentation from Baylor Scott & White Health.
Guests will also be invited to visit Fowler’s Community Cancer Banner, which honors individuals impacted by all forms of cancer.
Participants may leave a message in honor or memory of a loved one, recognize their own journey as a survivor, or reflect on their experience as a caregiver.
Together, these messages create a visible expression of remembrance, hope, support, and community.

Join us for Fowler’s October Memory Café, a welcoming gathering designed for people living with dementia and their care partners. This event is free and open to the public!
This month, guests will enjoy pumpkin decorating and creating a fall floral arrangement while spending time with others in a relaxed, supportive setting. Memory Cafés offer opportunities to build friendships, enjoy activities together, and connect with helpful ideas and resources.

Janet D. Smith is a recovering plantaholic who considers the Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and native plant training as her 12-step program. She specializes in growing drought-tolerant plants that attract bees, butterflies, and birds. She loves helping others discover the thrill of having their own nature channel out their windows.
Janet’s love of gardening didn’t start until after she took early retirement and decided to spruce up her dismal landscape. The next year she took the Master Gardening training and learned how to actually grow and care for plants. She embraced the concept of WaterWise Gardening in her landscape and as a speaker. A few years later she became a Master Naturalist and joined the Native Plant Society of Texas where she now coordinates their very active Native Landscape Certification Program.
But in addition to waterwise gardening, Janet discovered the intrigue of butterfly gardening, as well, and is coming to share with us her knowledge and experience of understanding all things butterfly!
