Juliette Fowler Communities is proud to support the 2nd Annual Dallas Porchfest – a music, art, and food festival to be held on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 in the 4600 block of Worth St and Buckner Park in the original East Dallas. Porches in the neighborhood will showcase local musicians including Seth Falkner, Riley Curnutt, Jenna Clark, Big Ass Brass Band, and many more! Artisans will display and sell their creations in the newly renovated Buckner Park. East Dallas restaurants will be on hand all day, serving their delicious fare, which can be enjoyed with free samples of wine and local craft beer. All proceeds benefit Peak’s Suburban Addition Neighborhood programs and beautification. Come out and join your Fowler friends for this fun event for all ages and help this historic neighborhood celebrate the grand re-opening of Buckner Park!

Lewy Body Dementias Presented by Cindy Marshall, M.D.

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 3:30-4:30pm

Dr. Marshall will provide an overview of the Lewy Body Dementias. She will discuss how LBD differs from other cognitive disorders, as well as review treatment options.

About our Speaker:

Cindy Marshall, M.D., joined Baylor Health Care System in 2011 as director of the Memory Center, now known as the Baylor AT&T Memory Center. Dr. Marshall has a special interest in treatment of the memory, mood and behavioral problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Dr. Marshall earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed a four-year psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles.

Building a Church, Building a City

As we celebrate our 125th Anniversary, Juliette Fowler Communities presents Sheryl Taylor Curlee, author of “Building a City, Building a Church.”  Many of the early settlers in Dallas were the founders of the first church built in Dallas. The Peak family was one. At Fowler, we have a special connection to this lineage as our namesake, Juliette Fowler, was the daughter of church founder Jefferson Peak. Ms. Curlee will shares stories about this historic time and about the first church built in our city.

The Visionary Women luncheon celebrates the vision of Juliette Peak Fowler and honors individuals who embody her compassionate spirit and who use their visionary leadership and remarkable gifts to make a difference in our world. All proceeds will benefit Juliette Fowler Communities One Heart fund. This year’s luncheon we will honor The Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison as our 2017 Visionary Woman. Additionally, the Juliette Fowler Faith & Service Award will be presented to Madeline Johnston White a Texas Christian University student that exhibits a Juliette-like spirit of servant leadership. The Erika McKenzie Volunteer Award will be presented to the Christian Church [Disciples of Christ]. Receiving the award on behalf of all congregations will be The Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, President and General Minister of the Christian Church [Disciples of Christ] in the United States and Canada.
