Juliette Fowler Communities is proud to share that Dementia Friendly Dallas has been honored with the LeadingAge Texas Award for Excellence in Advocacy.
This recognition celebrates our community-wide effort to change the way Dallas sees, understands, and supports people living with dementia and the loved ones who care for them. At its core, Dementia Friendly Dallas (DFD) exists to reduce stigma and isolation through education, awareness, and connection. It empowers individuals, businesses, faith communities, and organizations across the city to better support people living with dementia by equipping them with tools, language, and understanding.
As Ann McKinley, Co-Founder of DFD, shared in our recent video feature,
“Every man, woman, and child in Dallas should be a Dementia Friend. We can reduce the anxiety, frustration, sadness, and fear that people automatically associate with dementia. There are people in grocery stores, in the pews of your church, on the streets you walk by every day—we want people to walk toward those living with dementia, not away.”
Juliette Fowler Communities is honored to be an administrator and sponsor of this program and to witness the real impact of these trainings across our city. From small acts of kindness at a local bank to larger shifts in how churches or businesses accommodate memory loss, this work is creating a more compassionate and informed Dallas for everyone.
