Daily Briefing, May 23, 2020

  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
  • Today is Resident Fun Day – we have moved Friday Fun day to Saturday
  • We remain in Code Red High Risk Zone
    • After dropping into the 180s for the last two days, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Dallas County again topped 200 on Friday, county health officials say
    • This week we also had our highest day of losses – the county reported 14 deaths Thursday afternoon after our Briefing
    • Yesterday, the county reported 207 new cases and 4 deaths
  • In the state of Texas 320 Nursing Homes and 115 assisted living communities have reported COVID cases
  • I am pleased to share that we are not one of them
    • Our state mandated testing of our skilled nursing community has been completed and we received our results back today – no team members or residents tested positive
  • As we all begin to tread out into the community it is imperative that we all maintain a level of high caution
  • The Fowler team has been socially isolated too – they come to Fowler and they return home
  • I want to remind all team members and residents – “just because we can, doesn’t mean we should”
  • We have all been fierce in our efforts to keep everyone in Fort Fowler as safe as possible and we need to remain just as vigilant and fierce now as we begin to leave our gates
  • We have created a sign for all external doors that will let you know what your daily risk level is
    • See graphic above
    • The sign includes our Love your Neighbor Basics
    • Additionally, signage will be going up at all exit gates
    • Gloves will be placed at the front desk that you can use – for instance, if you need to stop at the gas station and pump gas, you will want to wear gloves – some gas stations have staff sanitizing pump handles, but not all
  • I want to reiterate a couple of points about Phase 2
    • Our phasing decisions are based on what provides the least amount of risk
    • Love Your Neighbor Basics remains in place through all phases
    • Outside visitors are still restricted – no family members or routine healthcare which includes routine hospice visits
    • Regarding the mobile dog groomers – while they are remaining in the parking lot, they are still interacting with our residents and you will more than likely come within 6 feet of the groomer to hand off your dog
      • The dog groomer will need to go to designated screening points and be screened in
        • If you live in Jackson, the groomer will come to the Abrams parking lot and be screened in at Support Services
        • If you live in FCA, the groomer will come to Means Screening check point
      • Regarding FCA package delivery
        • You need to put 105 Juliette Fowler Street on your UPS, Amazon and FedEx deliveries
        • All deliveries will go to the Means Check in location and still be delivered directly to your doors
      • For those of you who have gotten in your cars and taken a Joy Ride – I hope you have enjoyed your drive
        • You can now do a curb-side pickup
        • Ride around the lake
        • Not time to go visit friends and family – just stretch your legs and drive
      • Please maintain notification of departures and check ins if you go for dr visits, etc.
    • As we continue to think about our new norm and how we can resume life, we must all remain vigilant
    • Let’s celebrate some birthdays!

        • Many of us have individuals we think of during this holiday and our prayers are with those families who made the greatest sacrifice
        • Our team will be grilling and delivered special picnic for you
      • Make it a great day on purpose
      • See you on Tuesday
