Daily Briefing, June 02, 2020

  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
  • Today is Teammate Tuesday and we will share some team member updates with you after we discuss our COVID updates
  • We remain in Code Red High Risk Zone in Dallas – STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE is still recommended
  • On June 1, Dallas County reported 228 new cases and one death for a total of 10,462 total COVID Cases and 229 deaths
    • We have 545 Available ICU beds, 1313 available ventilators and 582 COVID patients in the hospital
    • Senior living community impact in Region 2/3
      • 119 nursing homes have 1247 cases and have experienced 196 deaths
      • 39 Assisted Living communities have 157 confirmed cases and 50 deaths
    • COVID is still here and will be with us for a while and we will continue to advocate that while we are in the RED ZONE, STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE
    • We remain extremely cautious about actions that could possibly create risk for any of you
    • With that said, based on the information provided by the CDC and Health and Human Services, we are launching Phase 3 of our plan for Fowler
    • Our phasing is based on our legal requirements and the recommendations of local and national COVID experts, and it honors your choices and decisions
    • You have choices to make every day and as we move forward, Fowler will provide you with resources for how you can personally keep yourself safe.
    • We will do our part – maintain our legal restrictions and provide you with the resources you need to keep yourself safe
      • These resources are on the CDC website and we will link them on our website as well. A packet of printed resource materials will be provided along with a copy of Phase 3 by tomorrow
    • In every instance, Our Love Your Neighbor Basics are critical – wear your facemask whenever you are out of your apartment, social distance by at least 6 feet, wash your hands frequently, sanitize surfaces
    • We will let you know when Dallas County risk level changes:
      • CURRENT: Red/Stay Home Stay Safe
      • Orange/Extreme Caution
      • Yellow/Proceed Carefully
      • Green/New Normal Until Vaccine
    • There are signs on all external doors notifying you of your current risk level
    • These Risk Level applies to all individuals who live in Dallas but they are especially important to our population – individuals over 65 are in the highest risk category for mortality from COVID
    • PHASE 3

        • RECOMMENDATION: Maintain curbside pickup or InstaCart deliveries

        • Though we are all ready for them to be here, PS Salon is not ready to send their operators back to us
  • SWIMMING POOL for JLC and FCA
    • Both pools will open tomorrow
    • You must continue to social distance
    • You do not have to swim with your mask on, but you do have to wear a mask outside of the pool

    • JLC and FCA family members or friends may schedule to pick up a resident for a ride, to pick up curbside groceries, visit in a home, etc
    • Visits may be scheduled, Monday through Saturday, 9am-5pm
    • Our no visitor policy remains in affect; visitors will not have access to the buildings but may pick-up in the parking lot
    • We implore you to be cautious in this choice and encourage you to ask important questions: Have you been following recommended protocols? Have you been wearing a mask, washing your hands, sanitizing, social distancing, etc? Have you been around anyone with COVID19 or around anyone showing symptoms?
    • You and your neighbors have been socially isolating

        • For others, you will choose new options
        • We implore everyone to maintain the Love your Neighbor Basics
      • We must start learning to navigate our lives and maintain our safety simultaneously
        • We are aware that some of you have thrived during our period of isolation; some of you have struggled with extreme loneliness and depression
        • There is no right or wrong answer in your choice
        • Thank you for the sacrifices you have made in caring for the health and safety of your neighbor
      • When you start venturing out, you will see that many things have changed
        • Grocery stores look different with aisle directions that encourage social distancing, people in masks, and contactless payment
        • Many businesses have put plexi-protectors at check-out
        • Doctors offices are strict in their screening – the same way we have been
      • We also have an additionally dynamic
        • If you have been watching the news, you will know there has been a tragic, horrific event in the death of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer
        • As a nation we are already frustrated by the pandemic
        • This is the perfect storm
        • Many people have taken to the streets to voice their opinion about the unacceptable death of Mr. Floyd – and the protests range from peaceful to destructive
        • As you go out be mindful of curfews and protests
        • Today a protest is planned at Flagpole Hill; protesters will park Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church and march to Flagpole Hill
      • When we are out in the community, remember our values – we love people
      • Be that example
      • How do we respond – respond in love
      • Rage and hate beget rage and hate
      • Pray for our city, for our country, for our leaders, for the impacted families
