Daily Briefing, April 22, 2020

  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
  • Today is Administrative Professionals Day – I want to thank our team members who serve in this capacity at Fowler – grateful for your dedication to our residents and team
  • Today is Earth Day so it was appropriate that Rev. Schomp sent us a humorous observation about how he is passing time:
    • This ‘no sports’ is getting to me. Watching the birds in the yard eating worms. The Cardinals are leading the Blue Jays 7 to 3
  • This morning we had a surprise visit from our state health care surveyors
    • They were here to inspect our infection control policies as they relate to COVID
    • They reviewed our policies, our communication, laid eyes on every single resident and interviewed every team member in the Carroll Neighborhood about their infection control procedures
    • We are pleased to share that Fowler team passed with flying colors
    • We received 0 deficiencies and they said that Fowler’s policies and procedures should be considered best practice for others
    • Kudos to Gentry and Jennifer for implementing the procedures that exceeded the state’s expectations and kudos to our team who has demonstrated the ability to adapt to continuous changes in protocols
  • The Dallas County Commissioners Court extended the Safer at Home ruling
    • We are all sheltering in place in Dallas County until 5/15
    • While some businesses will be opening, nothing changes in our approach to protecting those who live and work at Fowler at this time
    • Our team members will need to continue self-isolate and maintain the same plan we have in place – as a senior community, our re-opening is recommended in Phase 3
    • We need to keep in mind that Dallas has not had 14 days of downward trends in confirmed cases and that is the starting place for opening up
  • Rev Schomp sent this analogy that I think is appropriate:
    • “The curve is flattening; we can start lifting restrictions now = The parachute has slowed our rate of descent; we can take it off now”
