COVID Briefing, July 14, 2020

  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
  • Let’s start off with great news:
    • Last week, we shared that an independent resident in Fowler Christian Apartments has tested positive for COVID
    • We learned yesterday that all our residents and staff that were tested as a result tested negativeincluding the original resident who had tested positive at the hospital
    • The COVID Incident Log has been updated on our website to reflect this response
    • Our new partner, Magnolia Diagnostic managed to get us results quickly
    • So that we can maintain this speed in testing, I want to remind our independent residents that you will be in receipt of an Insurance Information Form today or tomorrow. If we ever need to do COVID testing in your living area again, having this information on hand will help us secure tests and results timely
      • In FCA, please complete and put it in your rent boxes
      • In JLC, please complete and return to the front desk
    • COVID Numbers
      • Yesterday, Dallas County reported 1114 new cases and 6 deaths
      • We have rampant community spread
      • Hospitalizations continue to be a concern, though in Dallas they are considered “manageable”
        • Proactively, Medical City Hospital stopped all elective surgeries
      • We continue to bank on our Love Your Neighbor Basics
        • We believe these principles and cannot underestimate the impact each of us can make in our community by just following these fundamental efforts
        • Healthcare experts continue to state that we can fight this pandemic one person at a time – through our behaviors
          • Each individual needs to wear a mask, wash their hands, maintain 6 feet of distance between you and other individuals
        • This needs to be top of mind and as automatic as putting on your glasses
        • When you go to a family members home, wear a mask
        • When you go out in public – anywhere outside your apartment is “public” – wear your mask
        • If you cannot maintain proper distancing – don’t go
        • When you touch mail, groceries, or return from the public – wash your hands, frequently
      • Regarding the face shields – these are an extra level of protection – they are not in place of a face mask. You should always wear your face mask; residents may add a face shield for extra protection; staff members who work at all check in points, collection desks, reception desks, and of course in any area of care, should be wearing face shields
      • Regarding the park, if you see large groups at the park – DON’T GO
        • We do not have any jurisdiction over the park or those in it; but we do have jurisdiction over our own actions
      • We have had some questions about our grounds – thank you we are working on a solution
      • Also want to remind everyone to stay hydrated – its hot! A key to fighting illness is staying hydrated – and during this time of COVID especially, we do not want you to become dehydrated
      • Its Teammate Tuesday
        • 7/12 was Ambra Hardin’s birthday
        • 7/13 was Derrick Brown’s birthday
        • 7/13 was Ronny Roberson’s birthday
        • Today, 7/14 is Joie’ Thornton’s birthday
        • 7/15 is Valarie Gray’s birthday
        • Bryce Sproul celebrates his 2-year anniversary with us on 7/16
      • Thank you – and make it a great day on purpose!
