  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
    • As of 12:00 pm December 14, 2020, Dallas County Health and Human Services is reporting 1,699 additional positive casesof 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dallas County, 1,519 confirmed cases and 180 probable cases.
    • Sunday, Dallas County reported 1,810 new cases with 4 deaths
    • To date, a total of 1,385 Dallas County residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19 illness.
    • The first shipments of COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered in Texas. Four sites received 19,500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Monday morning. An additional 19 sites will receive 75,075 doses on Tuesday.
    • A total of 1.4 million doses have been allocated to Texas by the end of the year
    • Methodist Hospital started vaccinating their front-line healthcare workers yesterday
    • Parkland Memorial Hospital, UT Southwestern in Dallas and Texas Health Resources in Fort Worth are among 19 more Texas hospitals scheduled to receive shipments of the vaccine today
    • We have not been notified as to when the vaccine will come to Fowler; nor do we know yet how many doses we will get
    • The vaccine will be administered through CVS; a followup injection will be given 21 days later as this is a two-step process
    • The decision to take the vaccination is a personal decision; just like all the COVID decisions we make – such as where we go, who we see, whether we wear a mask, zoom our holidays, Instacart our groceries – these are personal decisions and choices that happen to impact the health of others
    • Today, we are rolling out the Essential Visitor Program and Outdoor Visitation in Jackson Living Center and Fowler Christian Apartments Independent Living
    • The highlights of the Essential Visitor Program are as follows:
      • An Essential Visitor can be a family member or other outside caregiver who is at least 18 years old and has been designated by the resident to provide regular support to a resident.
      • The resident may designate up to 2 Essential Visitors over and above Essential Care providers [home health, hospice, etc]
      • Only one Essential Visitor may visit at a time
      • Only one visit per week per Essential visitor
      • Each visit is limited to two hours or less at Fowler’s discretion
      • The visit will be in the resident’s apartment – visitors are not to enter common areas or dining room
      • Essential Visitors must maintain physical distancing between themselves and all other residents and staff
      • Resident must wear a facemask over both mouth and nose
      • The Essential Visitor must wear a face mask and any other appropriate PPE
      • The Essential Visitor will be required to provide identification at each visit
      • The Essential Visitor must sign Consent Forms and Assumption of Risk and Waiver Form
      • A negative COVID test is required within 14 days of the visit – you are required to secure your test and provide the results – Fowler will not provide the COVID test
      • All visitation is scheduled through the front desk where you will be screened each time upon arrival
      • You will receive an initial PPE training and sign all required documents upon your first visit
    • We are also rolling out outdoor visits
      • These do not require COVID tests
      • They do require scheduling as we only have so many outdoor seating areas
      • They do require masks and social distancing
      • Outdoor visits will be especially helpful in seeing family members who have recently utilized public transportation
    • We are pleased to provide these opportunities of connection with family
    • Thank you for maintaining your vigilance with your designated Essential Visitors
