- COVID UPDATE:
- Yesterday, Dallas County reported 287 additional cases(249 confirmed + 38 probable) and 2 deaths, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s, both had underlying health conditions
- The cumulative case count in Dallas County is 82,410 including 1024 confirmed deaths
- The County Health Department has expressed concern that our levels are on the rise
- We need to work hard NOW to contain the spread
- We all need to exercise good decision making. This includes wearing our mask 100% of the time and maintaining six-foot distancing, washing our hands frequently, avoid unnecessary exposures and avoid indoor activities where the mask cannot be worn 100% of the time
- Also monitored is the hospitalization rate which is slowly creeping back up.
- Over the last two weeks, retail establishments have seen increased capacities
- people are letting down their guard at functions at home
- there have been some outbreaks at schools though those numbers have been manageable
- there has been significant increase in the number of COVID positive cases in people 18-22, both in college and not in college – up 13%
- Our improvement in our numbers has stopped and the increases threaten to push us back to greater restrictions if we do not quickly adjust
- Dallas County is hitting similar levels that were seen in May and June
- Please continue to be diligent in your personal decisions – our personal responsibility in managing our actions impacts our neighbors
- As we move to expanding visitation, we would hate to have to shut down again
- We have identified another area of information discrepancy – the “positivity rate”
- The county is calculating a positivity rate
- And CMS is calculating a positivity rate, but they are different and based on different criteria
- The number we are required to follow comes from CMS and this impacts how often we are required to test our staff
- The upswing to the COVID protection plans that individuals are implementing
- Australia has reported their flu season is negligible
- In fact, flu in the southern hemisphere has practically disappeared
- For instance, Chile has only reported 1134 flu cases compared to 20, 949 over the same period last year
- Primary care physicians are reporting fewer colds & sinus infections
- Experts are crediting stringent COVID restrictions
- Fowler Updates:
- We will be reinstating our Fall Prevention Exercise classes at Jackson Living Center with our therapy team – watch for that new schedule
- Next to return will be our outpatient therapy
- These are important programs for maintaining balance, strength and overall wellness
- Please know that the therapy team is tested weekly for COVID and they will be wearing their PPE which includes those all-important masks
- We are formulating the expansion of our visitation policies, including our licensed areas
- In our licensed areas, we will be making the necessary application to the state for approval to move forward and will roll out the certification for designated family members – all of this must happen before our visitor policy is expanded
- Regarding Willis Winters Park:
- We will not have a recording of the ZOOM meeting we hosted last Tuesday about the usage of the park
- ZOOM has been unable to fix the audio issue

- Nicole participated in the Park Board meeting this morning via Zoom
- No proposal was made at the park board meeting this morning regarding the stadium
- Many community members spoke against the idea of building the stadium and they spoke on our behalf!
- Texas OU Game will be limited to 20,000 attendance; heavily controlled – big enough to socially distance that number
