- COVID UPDATE:
- Dallas County reported 197 confirmed cases and 114 probably cases for a total of 311 new cases yesterday
- The cumulative case count in Dallas County is 81,372 including 1,021 confirmed deaths
- At Fowler, our residents remain COVID free
- It’s hard to believe this week is October 1
- There are lots of jokes on the internet about the year we have had
- What was the most wasted gift last Christmas – a 2020 planner
- Maybe we didn’t eat enough black-eyed peas on New Years
- Remember the joke “2020 is a unique Leap Year. it has 29 days in February, 300 days in March and 5 years in April.”
- I hear many people saying they can hardly wait until 2020 is over
- What if we looked at this another way – let’s live the best 2020 we can
- Let’s not forget we have today
- This moment
- These neighbors
- These co-workers
- We have these moments
- What have we learned in 2020?
- The past provides context and hope for the future
- The future holds our dreams
- The present is where we live
- COVID is still here and it’s not going away.
- A vaccine may not change it
- It may not be a one and done vaccine that eradicates COVID
- It may become more like an annual flu shot
- I heard a physician recently say that he believes masks will become normal in the fight against the flu, colds, as well as COVID and other communicable diseases
- It’s common to long for a return to ‘normal’
- Let’s not short ourselves the beauty of now
- Our lives have been changed and ‘normal’ looks different
- New standards have been set
- COVID is still here and we can manage it; we have done the hard work – we all have the Love Your Neighbor Basics standard
