49 out of 50 states have confirmed cases – Only West Virginia has no confirmed cases
Extensive measures have been taken by businesses and organizations in the entire country:
Apple stores have closed indefinitely
Schools are closed
Office buildings are closed and people are working from home
Sporting events have been cancelled
Disney is closed
Even the Masters golf tournament
Travel ban has been extended
No more handshakes or hugs
House has passed an emergency relief bill – Senate will pass on Monday and the president will sign
Paid emergency leave for healthcare workers
Free COVID testing
And Telemedicine sites are being activated
Texas is now a COVID red state which means our numbers have gone up as expected
The entire country is doing these things – to protect you – the country’s most vulnerable
You need to continue to do your part
Maintain good handwashing and hygiene
Wash your clothes daily – the virus can live on your clothes
Maintain distance – refrain from hugging and handshaking
Sanitize your doorknobs and assistive device
Restrict your own public access – not only are you at risk, but everyone in the store
Our best defense is to simply not come in contact with the virus
Each choice you make impacts you and the hundreds of lives at Fowler
Where you go, you are taking your neighbors with you.
Most of our residents are fully complying
However, some are not
Some of you have stated that you have dealt with this before – no one has ever dealt with this before
We would rather over protect than invite the virus into our community.
Your personal choices are not yours alone in this particular scenario.
PLEASE RESTRICT NON ESSENTIAL TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF OUR CAMPUS – salons, nonessential dr appointments, etc.
We are relying on trusted experts for the information we provide to you – the information we are providing to you has been fully vetted and not here say.
For 127 years, Fowler has celebrated amazing victories and walked through significant challenges. Along the way, God has always proven himself to be present and faithful.
As you know, COVID–19 has created a new challenge for the world we live in and, more visibly, for the residents at Fowler.
Our leaders – at Fowler, state, national and in the world are activating.
At Fowler, your leadership team has committed to work 7 days/week and modifying our lifestyle to keep you safe.
We want to assure you that our faith is in God. We have no doubt that he is present and active in the obstacles that are before us and, because of this, we do not fear.
In times like this, we pray and ask God to give us wisdom.
We also heed the wisdom of scripture that reminds us there is safety in the counsel of many (Proverbs 11:14).
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisors.
Because of the counsel of local, state and federal authorities, we have put measures in place that we have never had to do.
We stand in the space of being proactive, not fearful
To minimize large group gatherings of ten or more, we will not be holding services in the Chapel tomorrow
However, your spiritual support still exists
Sunday school will be broadcast at 10am from the chapel on Channel 6.
Services tomorrow will be streamed at 3pm from Central Christian Church on Channel 6
God is in control. He always has been, and he always will be. As the Fowler Family, let’s commit to caring and praying for each other.
For a season, our daily activities will change, but rest assured that our goal has not.
