- Good afternoon Fowler Family!
- Today is Teammate Tuesday and Erin will share some teammate updates shortly
- Let’s first talk about the COVID war front
- I call it a war front because we are still fighting an enemy
- We must be vigilant, we cannot let our defenses down
- Venture out for essential purposes only
- Do those things that increase your protection – Love your Neighbor Basics
- Though it is not on the news often, it is still present
- Texas saw 1254 new cases Monday 6/15
- 1,459,015 individuals have been tested in Texas
- 89,108 tested positive, 1,983 have died
- It is estimated that we currently have 28,036 active cases in Texas
- Dallas County saw another 305 new cases Monday
- The 6th continuous day of more than 300 cases though we have seen somewhat of a decline
- While there were 64 new hospitalized patients, 300 beds became available
- Dallas County remains in the Red Zone for a reason – we have not seen a 14 day decrease in new cases
- The risk to your life is still high – individuals over 65 are the highest risk for death
- Your health is your responsibility and requires proactive measures
- Governor Abbot spoke today and here is the summation of what he said
- While the numbers appear to be going up, they are still manageable, and we are more optimistic today than we were in March
- Our hospitals are better equipped to care for you today than they were when we started in March
- They have PPE
- They have access to some treatments that appear to work
- They have learned various strategies for recovery
- Today we know how to make safe decisions to prevent contracting and spreading
- We have a robust hospital system in Texas – we still have enough beds to care for COVID and for other healthcare needs
- In Dallas we have 14,000 hospital beds and 24% are available
- We can surge into another 5523 beds
- We have 3382 ICU beds and 525 are available
- The governor’s recommendation for you is to stay home and stay safe, leaving only for essentials
- If you don’t need to get out, don’t
- The governor recommends three strategies
- Wear mask
- Use frequent hand sanitizer
- Maintain safe distance
- Sounds like Love your Neighbor Basics, doesn’t it?
- The governor feels we no longer have to choose between jobs/economy and healthcare – these can coexist, but we must exercise good personal decisions
- Business is opening so people can get to work and feed their families
- This is not a signal that it is over and there is nothing to worry about
- At Fowler, we cannot maintain the restrictions we started in March
- We have to learn to live with COVID
- For our independent residents, we are depending on you to make good decisions for your health and the health of your neighbor
- For our assisted living and skilled nursing residents – we are still abiding the regulations of the state and federal government that are intended to mitigate your risk
- Today the President spoke about police reform
- We are still prayerful about the civil unrest in our country
- As a community to need to look for ways to impact a solution
- Be prayerful and present in the conversation; ask what you can do to be part of the solution
- Pray for those who are hurting and for our leaders, for their wisdom and decisions
