- Good afternoon Fowler Family!
- COVID UPDATE:
- As of 4:00 pm November 11, 2020, Dallas County Health and Human Services is reporting 1,304 additional positive casesof COVID-19 in Dallas County, 926 confirmed cases and 378 probable cases.
- There is a cumulative total of 105,377 casesincluding 1,138 confirmed deaths.
- As Nicole shared with you on Tuesday, community spread has a direct correlation to spread within senior communities
- Fowler Updates:
- We have two important incidents to report here at Fowler
- First, our Worth Memory Care neighborhood is COVID free
- All have received their second negative test
- We will be transporting our residents back to Fowler over the next two days
- Truly a reason to celebrate – a wonderful story of recovery
- We have a new incident to report
- Yesterday we received confirmation that a resident in Jackson Living Center tested positive for COVID
- The resident volunteered externally and was notified by the event volunteer coordinator of a known exposure
- At that point, the resident was tested and lab confirmation was received last night
- Through our contact tracing, team members and residents who have had direct contact with the resident have been identified and have been tested per our standard COVID protocols.
- Those tests are presumptive negative – confirmation through lab results is pending
- Additionally, residents living near the impacted resident were contacted and the remainder of the Jackson residents were then called
- The impacted resident is quarantining in their apartment for a minimum of 14 days
- We remain vigilant in our efforts to exercise every reasonable precaution to prevent the spread of COVID
- This is an ideal time to remind everyone
- Residents in independent living make independent decisions and personal choices
- Our team members are making decisions and personal choices daily as well
- We do our best to provide information and education so that you can make good decisions
- At the end of the day, it is critical for everyone to realize that your decisions impact the health and wellbeing of the residents and staff at Fowler
- Wherever you go, everyone at Fowler goes with you
- Let me repeat, wherever you go, you take the frailest of Fowler with you – choose wisely
- For almost 9 months, we have been talking about Love Your Neighbor Basics
- Wear a mask whenever you leave your apartment – from the car to the building – EVEN IF NO ONE IS AROUND
- Research has shown that COVID is particle driven [droplets] – even the simple task of breathing in and breathing out, can expel the virus into the air – AND IT LINGERS
- In other words, the air you leave behind can be inhaled by someone else and you can unknowingly spread COVID
- Likewise, you can also walk through air left behind that contains COVID droplets and contract it, even if the person is no longer in site
- Fowler is a community. And when living and working in community, the health of your neighbors is paramount and your decisions impact us all
- Please take this to heart
- The experts are warning us that we are entering a critical phase of the pandemic
- As the weather gets colder, as we enter the holidays, the opportunity for community spread can expound
- Let’s all do our part – Wear your mask always, wash your hands frequently, social distance up to 6 feet, keep all hard surfaces sanitized, and Stay Home to Stay Safe as much as possible
- Yesterday it was reported that ambulances have been instructed to defer transports away from our major hospitals to smaller hospitals unless it is a trauma – the authorities are watching the hospitalization rates increase
- For the past month, Nicole has encouraged the democratic process of voting
- Everyone is entitled to their opinion and your opinions were voiced by voting
- I would like to remind everyone, especially my teammates, that we work in our resident’s homes; they don’t live in our work
- And when we are in someone else’s home, we should honor them and respect their opinions
- As teammates, we should set professional boundaries around our opinions and not force our opinions on others
- Let’s remain neutral in our work setting to reduce the unnecessary stress and anxiety I’m sure no one intends to cause
