- COVID UPDATE:
- On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Dallas County Health and Human Services reported 1,348 additional positive casesof COVID-19 in Dallas County, 1,090 confirmed cases and 258 probable cases.
- The county also reported 33 deaths – this was the second highest number reported in a single day
- FOWLER UPDATES:
- Update on our conversation about Face Shields instead of Face Masks
- As you recall, Gentry has been researching this topic as well as some alternatives
- Face shields are NOT recommended as a substitute for masks are not a substitute for face masks
- Face Shields may be worn in addition to masks for possible added eye protection to the wearer since it is thought that COVID may also be contracted through the eyes.
- If you are in common areas, you need to wear a face mask
- We have several recommendations regarding masks:
- Wear a disposable surgical mask – they allow for greater breathability
- We are testing the plastic insert which holds the mask away from your mouth and nose and allows more air space
- If heat is an issue, wear a 100% cotton mask
- If your glasses fog up, wear a mask with a nose bridge or moldable material at the top, resting glasses over the mask
- If you are getting a headache, this is not from buildup of carbon dioxide which has been rumored and is not a valid rumor
- It may be from pressure due to ear loops, poor mask fit, dehydration or possibly scents
- We discourage masks with straw holes, exhale valves or other openings, these defeat the purpose
- Do not pull masks under the chin or hang from an ear, the front could be contaminated
- Remove your mask from ear loops or ties and put in a clean paper bag or lay outer side down on a napkin.
- Launder your mask daily with fragrance free detergent

- Together as a team, we will raise $20,000 for our mission this year
- FCA team won the CEO challenge with their costumes and decorations
- Your t shirts are on order and we will have a Joy Team T Shirt Day when they arrive
- Thank you so very much for your commitment to our mission
- Yesterday, was our virtual Christmas Party for our staff
- In and Out Burger provided lunch for all of us
- We welcomed members of our One Heart Society and board members who did social distant tours of our new Youth Center
- Had a fun virtual Raffle – Chaplain Venessa spun the wheel and everyone was a winner – receiving a $100 Walmart Gift Card! Merry Christmas – we appreciate you.
