COVID Briefing, August 11, 2020

  • Good afternoon Fowler Family!
  • Today is Teammate Tuesday and Erin will be celebrating team members shortly
  • I want to start with our Fowler update
    • Saturday, we learned that a team member in our Worth Community in PNCC tested positive for COVID
    • The team member last worked on Thursday 8/6, began feeling poorly on Friday and went to the hospital for a COVID test. The team member received their results Saturday morning and immediately contacted their supervisor
    • All resident family members and team members in Worth were notified immediately. We posted the information on our website and made all proper notifications to the authorities
    • As a result, Sunday morning the state regulators arrived for an infection control survey and interviews of all team members present. Their purpose is to confirm our infection control protocols meet the standards set by the state and the CDC
    • The state regulators left Sunday afternoon after finding nothing deficient in our infection control processes
    • Yesterday (Monday), 35 team members and residents received COVID tests
    • We have just received the results of those tests and I am thrilled to tell you 33 of the 35 tests are negative, we are still waiting for two more results
    • Once again, proper infection control can mitigate the spread of COVID
    • The use of masks and other PPE provided appropriately reduces the transmission of COVID
    • I am so proud of this team – our leadership – Jennifer and Cynthia – and for every member of the team that has stepped up and done everything that has been asked of them
    • Keep it up!
    • TO everyone, team and residents, do not grow tired of wearing your mask. Help remind each other and encourage each other
    • Team, masks should be on your face from the moment you arrive in the parking lot to the time you are pulling out at the end of your day
    • Residents, if you are outside of your apartment, the mask should be on your face
    • All of us have an opportunity to be encouragers
    • Let’s not work from a place of fear and admonishment
    • Let’s stand in the space of grace and encouragement
    • What did we call our plan – we called it the Love Your Neighbor Basics – lets encourage with love
      • Quick Review of Love Your Neighbor Basics
      • Wear your mask
      • Socially distance
      • Wash your hands frequently
      • Sanitize
      • Cover your sneezes and coughs
      • Isolate if you are not well
    • Regarding our pickups and deliveries
      • Rumor has it that family members and friends are meeting residents outside to deliver groceries or packages
      • Reminder – Jackson residents: Grocery and package delivery should be made on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday only to the Administration Center – not to the Porte Cochere
    • COVID Update
      • In our greater community, yesterday Dallas County reported 581 new cases
      • We are improving but COVID is still present
      • Stay vigilant
    • Teammate Tuesday:
      • Today is Laura Porting’s 3-year anniversary at Fowler
      • Rachel Cherian celebrates her birthday tomorrow August 12
      • Tina Harris’ birthday is August 14
    • Thank you – and make it a great day on purpose!
